spilt COFEE

Any script kiddie still in high school could have written COFEE.

Here’s how it works: you format and install this program to a thumbdrive. When you plop in the drive, it automatically runs. It is a really simple program that strings together a bunch of commands the user already has access to from the command line. Commands like “ipconfig” and “netstat” and “whoami”. Useful commands for determining “who” and “what” of internet connections, but nothing special. It decrypts Microsoft passwords to get admin access, nothing Hiren hasn’t been doing since the beginning of time.

It’s really a mediocre script, nothing that hasn’t been done before, albeit, useful on occasion.

Here is why I rant: Gizmodo marked it as “some of the most illegal software you can pirate“. Crunchgear called it “one of the most sought after applications on the Internet“.

Do you feel my disappointment? You ask me, this is all a ruse to get what.CD publicity. The executable has no official Microsoft signature. The programming is shit; it doesn’t even have class structure.

QED, bullshit.

( Oh, and I guess if you are on a mac or linux machine, then you are untouchable to the FBI? )
